A Legend Gets his Wings (Pernell “Sweet Pea” Whitaker) 🗞️

We just received some terrible news. All-time great Virginia boxing legend 🥇🇺🇸Pernell “Sweet Pea” Whitaker (40-4-1, 17KO👊) lost his life unfortunately last night after being struck by a car in Virginia Beach. Succumbing to the injuries suffered, he was only 55 years of age. An Olympic Gold-Medalist back in 1984 as part of that historic ◯◯ Olympic team, he went on to win 6 World Titles in 4 weight divisions in the professional ranks. He was a fan favorite (including ours) in the sweet science of the sport. A slick defensive master, with impeccable timing, with sharp hands and combination punching, he influenced the likes of great fighters that followed after him such as Floyd Mayweather Jr, Zab Judah, Terence Crawford and so forth. A legend gone way too soon.
