Brant’s Hometown defense is a hit

Rob “Bravo” Brant (25-1, 17KO) was successful in the first defense of his WBA “Regular” Middleweight title Friday night, as he stopped Khasan Baysangurov in the 11th round.

Brant was having his way and had the Russian challenger overwhelmed when he dropped him for the second time in the fight in the 11th round. Baysangurov got to his feet to continue, but Brant immediately blitzed him with another barrage of punches that caused referee Mark Nelson to step in and bring the fight to a halt. With the loss Baysangurov falls to 17-1, with 7KO.

Brant outlanded Baysangurov in punches 227-96. At the time of stoppage judges had Brant up 99-90 on two cards and 98-91 on the third.

Brant gets home defense against Baysangurov

This Friday night, St. Paul native Rob “Bravo” Brant (24-1, 16KO) will make the first defense of his WBA “Regular” Middleweight title in front of his home fan base in Minnesota.

He will be taking on undefeated Russian middleweight Khasan Baysangurov (17-0, 7KO) who will be making his debut on U.S. soil. Baysangurov is ranked #8 by the WBA.

“I am very proud and happy to receive this great opportunity to showcase my skills. I won’t disappoint my team and will give everything it takes to become the new champion. Of course, Rob Brant is a good boxer and a great champion, but now is my time to shine.”
