🇺🇸JARRETT ‘SWFT’ HURD🇺🇸

Every now and then, we will do a segment for fighters who come up a little short, and for fighters whom in a particular area was heavy exploited in, regardless of the outcome. Before we start, I’d like to cast a spotlight on what 🇺🇸Julian ‘J Rock’ Williams stated in his Post-Fight interview last night.

Fight of the Year Candidate, and the Titles Exchange Hands

What a high action fight we just got tonight on FOX-PBC to close the show out.  Julian ‘J Rock’ Williams (27-1-1, 16KO) breaks his ceiling with an outstanding performance to dethrone ‘Swft’ Jarrett Hurd (23-1-0, 16KO) to become the new Unified WBA/IBF Super-Welterweight Champion of the World.

A Return and a Reminder: Hurd vs Welborn

The man nicknamed ‘Swift’ is back…no not the Welterweight…the one whose friends call him ‘Peazy’ (because of the hair)…FB_IMG_1543339031182

That being unified WBA & IBF Super-Welterweight Champion Jarrett Hurd (22 – 0 – 0, 15 KO), and he makes his return to the ring on the undercard of Tyson Fury/Deontay Wilder Saturday night. His last fight was a thriller, a unification match in which he up-ended Cuba’s Erislandy Lara’s stronghold on the division in a very close fight, that was ultimately decided on the cards given Jarrett was able to finally floor Lara with about 20 seconds left to go in the fight.

After the fight, ‘Swift’ had surgery due to complications with a torn left rotator cuff, so being out of commission for about 8 months, this is his 1st fight back as a test-run to see how his shoulder responds in action under duress.

His opponent is Jason Welborn of England (24 – 6 – 0, 7KO), and he held the coveted regional BBBofC British Middleweight title, which he willingly gave up his belt to get a shot at a world title-match with multiple belts in play. A bit over-matched he is in this fight, but Welborn happens to be a gutsy fella, so he’ll make Hurd have to earn it. Hurd wants to remind the rest of the landscape that they have to go through him if they want to get to the mountain top, so it’s important that he takes care of business and get this one out the way.

Also, a very late addition to the PPV card is elite Super-Welterweight 🇺🇸Julian Williams (25 – 1 – 1, 15KO) in a stay-busy fight against 🇲🇽Francisco Javier Castro (28 – 8 – 0, 23KO). Understanding that Hurd is on the same card, Julian may try to shoot his shot and get an opportunity, but we’ll see how it goes down as it happens.

Jarrett Hurd defeats Jason Welborn by 4th round KO

Jarrett Hurd moves to 23-0-0, 16KO     Jason Welborn falls to 24-7-0, 7KO
