Physically imposing Heavyweight battering ram 🇬🇧Joe “Juggernaut” Joyce (12-0-0, 11KO) has been flying high over his somewhat surprising victory over legit prospect/world contender 🇬🇧Daniel Dubois…but the big man Joyce has refused to rest on his laurels, and the praise that has been heaped upon him following his career victory , and instead has increased his hunger, as he is looking to do whatever he needs to do in order for the now-35 year old to secure a shot for a title and/or a shot at the true Heavyweight Championship.
Starting late on his pro journey, time is not on his side, but his killer jab, size, power, patience and timing should allow him to continue to perform at this level for the next 3 years, and on Saturday, he will be looking to try to showcase the best version of himself. He will be facing tough battle-tested veteran 🇨🇲🇫🇷Carlos Takam (39-5-1, 28KO), who has been in with quite a few of the major faces of the Heavyweight division of this era, and though limited in skillful areas, he’s a tough nut to crack, and always makes the top opponents work to get one over him.
Takam now is 40 years old, and one wonders if he can still provide the stubborn tests that he is known to provide, but if so, he can provide a litmus test as to where Joe Joyce fits in today’s Heavyweight division in accordance to his lofty goals…but make no mistake about it, Takam is a competitor, one who is trying to win, so he won’t just roll over for his opponent. Being that this is a Queensberry Promotions event, it can be viewed on BT Sports. It will be fought at Wembley Arena.
