Friday will mark the return of the first Mexican-born former Super-Middleweight World Titlist 🇲🇽Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez (41-0-0, 27KO), in a bout that will be his first litmus test since moving to the Light-Heavyweight division back in 2019. The testing will come at the hands of former amateur World Champion, and respected pro world contender 🇨🇺Sullivan Barrera (22-3-0, 14KO
) in a main event that will be hosted by Banc of California Stadium, in Los Angeles.
Barrera has proven to be a rock solid, consistent day in-day out performer, who through time, has been relegated to holding the role as the gate-keeper of the
175 lb. divisions elite talent, and is one whose fortunes could change if he puts it all together in a match-up such as this one.
As for Ramirez, he has become somewhat of an afterthought lately due to lackluster performances that didn’t capture the publics imagination in recent bouts,, unexplained lengthy absent gaps between opponents, and a failed venture in trying to market himself after he and Top-Rank Promotions parted ways due to disagreements in how he wanted to be moved.
Nonetheless, we must not forget that he is one of the best from 168-175 lbs., and will look to remind detractors of that, against a credible Light-Heavyweight opponent. Golden-Boy now is Zurdo’s chief backing, and due to that, this bout, and its card can be viewed on DAZN in its entirety.
