There is a First Ballot Hall-of-Fame ticket & seat reserved for 🇵🇭Nonito Donare (40-6-0, 26KO) for whenever he decides to hang the gloves up. As for right now, the 38 year old legend is hellbent on his pursuit to win a 10th world title, as he will face skilled, vastly underrated WBC Bantamweight beltholder 🇫🇷Nordine Oubaali (17-0-0, 12KO) of France.
Oubaali made his bones at the top level in giving 🇯🇵Takuma Inoue (the younger of the Inoue brothers) his lone defeat, and earning a UD over former amateur World Champion & former Bantamweight Titlist 🇺🇸Rau’see Warren within his last three fights. He has his sights set on getting a 3rd title defense, against one of the best that the division has to offer.
Donaire, what can you say about him, even at this point in his career. His previous outing was the WBSS Bantamweight finale, where he fought tooth and nail with budding boxing legend 🇯🇵Naoya Inoue, breaking his orbital bone, and making his life a living hell through 12 rounds of relentless pursuit. Donaire didn’t pick up the win, but that was due to Inoue being flat out special, as Nonito was razor sharp in his own right during the bout – and since returning back down to Bantamweight, period in this rejuvinated stretch.
Showtime is the platform that will carry this main event, and its card, and the bout will be fought at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California – which is becoming a hotbed for boxing in terms of action packed fights.
