A calculated, diversified performance, reigning IBF Super-Middleweight Titlist 🇺🇸Caleb “Sweethands” Plant (21-0-0, 12KO👊) soundly defeated former IBF Titlist 🇺🇸Caleb Truax (31-5-2, 19KO👊) by way of shutout victory. Plant now has his eyes set on a potential major bout down the line, as he now becomes an interested spectator when it comes to other moving parts in the ⚖️168 lb. division.
Plant looked to establish the stick jab early, changing levels and range, to keep Truax guessing, and took full control of the opening stanza. Plant’s speed difference was apparent, and had Truax befuddled, pondering how to ⌚time him.
Plant diversified his punch sequences, movements, and punch speeds, showcasing masterful ability, keeping Truax stuck behind the 🎱8-ball, so-to-speak. With Truax feet being stuck in mud, and slow reflexes, the answers he continued to reach deep down in his 🎒bag for, was non-existent.
The left hook from Plant started to land at a more frequent clip, in wide variety, and put extra mustard on it. Plant never enacted the same sequence twice consecutively, indicative of a true top notch tactician, and ultimately had Truax at his mercy, as he was outclassed both physically and mentally.
The twelfth round, both had the intent to go for the knockout, and what resulted was more action that ensued. The fight however reached the 🛎️final bell, and no doubts were left as to who would get their hand raised by Referee 🕴🏽Jerry Cantu as the scorecards were read.
Truax you could tell showed up to win this fight, hitching his wagon to his vast experience advantage…however experience doesn’t mean much in a boxing match when you are unable to offset skill and natural ability, and that was the conundrum Truax had to face tonight. Plant won the fight by virtual shutout, and the three judges were ALL in agreement, as Plant would go on to make a successful 3rd defense of his IBF Title.
THE BIG OPPORTUNITY AND POTENTIAL LOTTO TICKET LOOMING FOR MR. PLANT?
With Caleb Plant able to clear his second of mandatory back-to-back challengers, nothing on his end seems to stand in his way of potentially getting a mega-fight with Pound-4-Pound King and Middleweight / Super-Middleweight Champion of the World Saul “Canelo” Alvarez.
Canelo has a WBC-mandatory challenger that he will face next month in 🇹🇷Avni Yildirim, and reportedly has a big fight inked for May with WBO Titlist Billy Joe Saunders, so Plant, if he is looking for Canelo to be his next fight, will hope that Canelo takes care of his 2 opponents, so that they can secure an Undisputed World Title bout some time in the fall of 2021.
