Prospect Watch: Week of December 20th

Four promising young prospects will be in action this coming weekend, spread across several cards, bringing a close to their 2020 campaign.



🇺🇸RAYMOND FORD/ 5’7″/ 68″/ Southpaw
opponent: 🇺🇸Robert Greenwood / 5’5″/ Orthodox
bout: 130 pounds/6 rounds
TV: DAZN, Saturday

Undefeated Super-Featherweight prospect 🇺🇸Raymond “Savage” Ford (7-0-0, 3KO) will wrap up 2020 by taking on boxer 🇺🇸Robert Greenwood (5-0-0, 2KO) in a six round bout that will serve as an undercard on the Canelo Alvarez-Callum Smith Super-Middleweight Championship main event at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, Saturday night.

Ford, a 21 year old southpaw from Camden, New Jersey is 2-0 with a knockout on the year and coming off of a third round stoppage of Mexico’s Rafael Reyes last month on the Devin Haney vs Yuriorkis Gamboa undercard. His opponent Greenwood, is 22 years old and hails from Kokomo, Indiana. The undefeated Greenwood will be stepping in the ring for the first time this year, his last fight took place in May of 2019, resulting in a second round stoppage in a scheduled four rounder held in a club show in Louisville, Kentucky.

🇺🇸AUSTIN WILLIAMS/ 6’0″/ 78″/ Southpaw
opponent: 🇺🇸Isiah Jones/ 5’9″/ 73″/ Orthodox
bout: 160 pounds/6 rounds
TV: DAZN, Saturday

Milwaukee, Wisconsin Middleweight 🇺🇸Austin “Ammo” Williams (6-0-0, 5KO) looks to remain undefeated when he faces 🇺🇸Isiah Jones (9-3-0, 3KO) of Detroit, Michigan in a six round bout. Williams, a 24 year old southpaw has won both of his fights in 2020 by stoppage, stopping Donald Sanchez in the fourth round back in January, and most recently stopping Esau Herrera in the fifth round of a scheduled six this past October.

Saturday Isiah Jones steps in the ring with Williams. Jones, 26, is 1-2 in 2020, most recently dropping an eight round decision to Wendy Toussaint.

🇺🇸RESHAT MATI/ 5’10″/Orthodox
opponent: 🇰🇪Dennis Okoth/ 5’7.5″/ 71″/ Orthodox
bout: 147 pounds/ 6 rounds
TV: DAZN, Friday

On Friday night, 22 year old Welterweight 🇺🇸Reshat “The Albanian Bear” Mati (8-0-0, 6KO) will step in the ring for the third time in 2020. Mati, a native of Staten Island, New York, has won both of his previous bouts this year by stoppage, most recently stopping Marcos Mojica of Nicaragua in the second round of a scheduled six round fight on the Haney-Gamboa undercard in November.

Mati will take on 27 year old 🇰🇪Dennis Okoth (4-4-1, 2KO) of Kenya in a scheduled six rounder. Okoth has dropped both of his bouts in 2020 by knockout. Okoth was stopped by Shinard Bunch in the sixth and final round of their fight in January, and rising prospect Elvis Rodriguez ended his night in the second round in July.

🇺🇸BRANDUN LEE/ 5’10″/ 71″/ Orthodox
opponent: 🇺🇸Dakota Linger/5’7″/ 70.5″/ Orthodox
bout: 147 lbs/ 10 rounds
TV: Showtime, Saturday

Rising Welterweight prospect 🇺🇸Brandun Lee (20-0-0, 18KO) has proven to be both exciting and explosive in his outings on Shobox the past couple of years. In 2021 the hope is that the 21 year old from California will position himself for bigger tests in his development. On Saturday Lee will step into his fourth fight of the year, winning his previous three inside the scheduled number of rounds. Lee most recently delivered a highlight reel first round knockout over New Jersey’s Jimmy Williams.

Saturday, Lee will take on West Virginia native 🇺🇸Dakota Linger (12-4-2, 8KO) in a fight scheduled for ten rounds. Linger has fought twice in 2020 with split results, winning by knockout in January, and dropping an eight round decision to Omar Juarez in September on the Yordenis Ugas vs Abel Ramos undercard.
