Top Japanese world Lightweight contender 🇯🇵Masayoshi Nakatani (19-1-0, 13KO) had to walk through hell (almost literally) to come back and conquer his touted Puerto Rican counterpart 🇵🇷Felix Verdejo. After Felix bludgeoned Nakatani twice to the canvas, and Verdejo fracturing Nakatani’s right orbital bone from incoming right hands, the Japanese fighter stood his ground, and dug his feet into the canvas, making the inward conscious decision to fight
fire-with-fire.
Nakatani successfully turned the tides, and knocked out Felix Verdejo in the 8th round, in a stunning turnaround of fortune. Today we have received confirmation from X-Rays that his right eye was indeed fractured, which makes Masayoshi’s victory that much more impressive given the circumstances.
Securing a victory of this magnitude, Nakatani has hopes of getting a re-match with Undisputed Lightweight World Champion 🇺🇸Teofimo “Takeover” Lopez, but the right eye-fracture might sideline him and put him on the mend for a little while, to spend some time away from the ring. Doctors are still debating whether he will need surgery or not.
