Supremely skilled Cuban WBA Junior-Middleweight secondary Titlist 🇨🇺Erislandy “The American Dream” Lara (26-3-3, 15KO) returns to headline Saturday’s PBC card against #11 world WBA ranked contender 🇺🇸Greg “The Villain” Vendetti (22-3-1, 12KO) on FOX.
For Erislandy Lara, this bout will be his first title defense for this new stint as a World Titlist since losing his WBA title belt to 🇺🇸Jarrett “Sw⚡ft” Hurd in their 2018 thriller. Lara won the vacant title after dispatching of overmatched 🇲🇽Ramon Alvarez with relative ease. While his fights often don’t fit into the entertaining bracket, Lara over the last 5-6 years has some some stake as being if not the best at ⚖️154 lbs, then certainly one of the best Junior-Middleweights in the world, occupying both hats at different times, predicated on his supreme boxing acumen, honed in his extensive time at the amateur level as a descendant from Cuba’s school of boxing.
Greg Vendetti’s last fight was a unanimous decision victory against 🇺🇸Michael Anderson. His lone step-up opportunity from domestic level opposition was against respected ranked Junior-Middleweight 🇫🇷Michel Soro of France, and for Vendetti, the experience did not go well for him, losing by technical knockout. His presence for this Lara fight doesn’t pose much of a threat to the vastly superior combatant….but in 2020, anything is possible…..and Andretti will try his best to put his name on the board.
