Jose Ramirez Puts World Titles On the Line Against the Iceman

Unified undefeated WBC/WBO Junior-Welterweight World Titlist 🇺🇸Jose Carlos Ramirez (25-0-0, 17KO👊) has been living his best life inside of the boxing ring, taking on the tough challenges, and prevailing in every test put in front of him. He has yet again another challenge against a former Titlist with esteemed pedigree, that being 🇺🇦Viktor “the Iceman” Postol (31-2-0, 12KO👊) of Ukraine. This contest will take place at “the Bubble” in the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, and will be shown on 📺ESPN’s regular channel.

Jose Ramirez path towards the top of the ticket was not easy, especially when you look at his list of opponents dating back before his first title fight. In his last 2 contests alone, he has faced arguably 2 of the top 5 Junior-Welterweight’s in the world in 🇺🇸Maurice Hooker (who was unbeaten at the time) and against 🇺🇸Jose “Chon” Zepeda. Ramirez first major assignment in his career was against 🇺🇸Mike Reed, who himself came into the match undefeated, a test Ramirez passed with flying colors, knocking out the American in the 2nd round of their battle.

Subsequently, Ramirez got his first shot at a World Title (that being the vacant WBC title) against once highly regarded boxer 🇺🇸Amir Imam. For Ramirez scope of a ceiling, he pitched a masterclass against the crafty slick boxer, defeating Imam with an impressive unanimous decision victory. As his first title defense, Jose Ramirez defeated unbeaten 🇲🇽Antonio Orozco by way of virtual shutout, albeit in a high action contest. Ramirez doesn’t believe in taking the easy route, and that streak will continue Saturday night factoring in the level of his opponent.

Taking the tough fights is also a moniker that you can attach to Viktor Postol’s name.  Throughout his career, he’s been one that is relatively easy to find as he is always visible, throwing his name into the hat to try and fight the best fighters available.  In a 4-fight span, Postol faced 🇦🇷Lucas Matthysse (which is where Postol won the vacant WBC title in 2015 – the same title Ramirez possesses right now), Pound-4-Pound Superstar 🇺🇸Terence “Bud” Crawford, a fight in which Postol lost by wide decision (with no shame attached to it, considering Crawford is one of the 3 best talents in the world), and against RING-Champion 👑🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿Josh “Tartan Tornado” Taylor, who is the preeminent World Champion of the Junior-Welterweight division as we speak, losing that one in a decision, but Postol held his own in some spots during that showdown.

Postol hopes his 4th crack at a World Title will go his way, as this may be his last shot at the age of 36, but it will prove to be a difficult task, considering Jose Ramirez universal top-3 stature at ⚖️140 lbs, also the relentless motor and precision punching that Jose brings to every assignment.  Ramirez is looking to continue his onslaught towards one day getting legitimate top ten Pound-4-Pound recognition, and to keep the channels open of a potential Undisputed showdown with the aforementioned 👑🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿Josh Taylor (who holds the RING/WBA/IBF World Titles).  We expect to get high octane combat on Saturday, August 29th…tune in.
