Former Super-Flyweight Champion of the World 🇹🇭Srisaket Sor Rungvisai (48-5-1, 41KO👊) experienced some trouble early due to a lethargic start, and the sharp counter-punching from 40 year old 🇹🇭Amnat Ruenroeng (20-4-0, 6KO👊). Things worsened when both clashed
heads in the 3rd round, and Srisaket caught all of it, with a nasty gash opened over his left eye. With blood pouring down profusely, and a rejuvenated opponent timing him coming in, Srisaket knew he had to turn the pressure up.
Through 5 rounds, I personally had Ruenroeng up 3 rounds to 2. From that point on, Rungivsai would exert the type of cold, calculated pressure that he needed to get inside, and changed the tide of the fight, slowly breaking Amnat down.
Taking a battering down the stretch, Ruenroeng managed to get to the final bell. With final scores of 97-94, 98-93, 99-91, Rungvisai would pick up his 48th victory by Unanimous Decision.
Srisaket and Amnat had a warm embrace after the fight, showcasing their mutual respect as Thailand’s latest standouts from 2 different eras. Rungvisai can now shift his focus on a pending 🇳🇮Roman Chocolatito / 🇲🇽Juan Francisco Rematch, to get his own re-match with the winner of that potentially made match.
