Michael Conlan to Lead the Way on St. Patrick’s Day Against Preciado

By Tré Berry III🖊️| 03/10/2020

It’s that time of the year, ☘️St. Patrick’s day is upon us, and once again, what has become tradition is Featherweight contender 🥉🇬🇧🇮🇪Michael Conlan (13-0-0, 7KO👊) hosting the show for the Irish contingent at the Hulu Theater in Madison Square Garden.  His opponent will be boxer 🇨🇴Belmar Preciado (20-2-1, 13KO👊) of Colombia.

Conlan is coming off of what was perhaps his best outing as a pro on the Crawford/Kavaliauskas undercard when he defeated 🥉🇷🇺Vladimir Nikitin and avenged his losses that he had against Nikitin in the amateur ranks.  The improvements that the ◯‍◯‍◯‍◯‍◯2016 Olympic 🥉Bronze Medalist has undergone in the last couple of years was instrumental in him being able to adapt to Nikitin’s pressure-based style, and he came out the better of it, as he successfully continued his undefeated streak, ensuring a #1 mandatory contender position by the WBO, and holding top-10 berths by the WBA & IBF sanctioning bodies.  Conlan is looking to have a big 2020, as he and his team now feel he is ready to push for a Title at world class.  A spectacular showing should help his cause and expedite his chances towards getting that said title shot.

His opponent Belmar Preciado is virtually unknown to a wide audience, and isn’t ranked in the top-15 of any of the 4 sanctioning bodies, which should tell you the type of match-up this is, as a stay-busy, reward from Conlan back to his people.  Preciado did mix it up with contender 🇯🇵Hiroshige Osawa, but suffered a knockout loss, just to you give you a perspective scope of his level in comparison with who he shared the ring with. The fight will be on 📺ESPN+, and will be shown on Tuesday, March 17th.
