The return of former Heavyweight Titlist 🇳🇿Joseph Parker (27-2-0, 21KO👊) went as planned, as he successfully up-ended opponent 🇺🇸Shawndell Terell Winters (13-3-0, 12KO👊) in the 5th round, getting the TKO victory after getting a little time in, and a respectable effort from his opponent to keep him fresh going forward.

Parker came out flicking the jab early, though coming forward as the aggressor.  Parker stepped up his pressure and winged away on Winters in the first rounds, looking to chop down his opponent.  Winters took it well, but it served as money in the bank for Parker in the later rounds to make a deposit.  Winters got a little respect at the end of the second round, rearing back and putting some mustard on the end of his right cross and landing upstairs, but as you would expect, Parker did the bulk of the work and tallied up the points throughout.  A mega right hand from Parker landed on the jaw late in the 3rd round, and Winters went down slowly, fighting with his legs to stay up as he slumped down with his back on the ropes, but gravity ultimately won in that moment.

A check-left hook from Winters opened up a cut over Parker’s right eye in the 4th round, and Winters authored up some of his best work toward the back of the stanza in a couple of impressive sequences.  Parker would come out strong in the 5th and final round, and scraped Parker with a nuclear right hand that had Winters doing the chicken dance underneath his torso, so Parker jumped on him, and finished him with a jab, cross, hook and final cross to put him on his backside on the canvas.

PARKER KNOCKOUT

Winters was hurt badly, but he he was able to beat the count, however 🗣️Referee Rosario Solis made the correct call to call a halt to the bout as Winters didn’t have all his wits about it.  Parker got his TKO victory and put himself back on the map to get back into the thick of the Heavyweight division with his plans going forward.
