Upon undefeated P4P star 🇯🇵Kosei Tanaka (15-0-0, 9KO👊) being elevated to “Super Status” a few weeks back when it comes to privileges associated with the WBO, Tanaka decided to set his path towards inching closer to the mega fight that he wants. Kosei Tanaka has decided to vacate his WBO Flyweight Title, and with the super status attached to his name, now becomes an immediate mandatory option for fellow great Japanese countrymen 🇯🇵Kazuto Ioka (25-2-0, 14KO👊) in the Super-Flyweight division.
EXPLAINING THE PATH – The WBO sanctioning body is adamant on keeping their Champions elevated throughout the weights, working towards making the biggest fights happen, and for whomever moves up (or down) in weight as a Champion who didn’t lose their title in the ring, they will automatically receive a top-2 contender berth at the new weight that they are to campaign in. The “Super” moniker that Kosei has unlocked is what strengthens his case to get the big fight, as it guarantees immediately mandatory positioning with a change of weight, such as what 🥇🇺🇦Oleksandr Usyk has unlocked from his time as a dominant Champion at Cruiserweight, to immediate mandatory status for a shot at Unified Heavyweight Titlist 🥇🇬🇧Anthony Joshua. With this move, Kosei would look to only become the second 4-division Champion in Japanese boxing history, with the only other fighter to unlock that achievement being his potential opponent in Kazuto Ioka.
