Get wins. Get the money. Get titles.
These are the goals as stated by 27 year old Heavyweight prospect 🥉🇭🇷Filip Hrgovic (9-0-0, 7KO👊) who will be featured on the undercard to the blockbuster rematch between Unified Heavyweight Champion Andy Ruiz and Anthony Joshua Saturday in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia.
Hrgovic, who collected a bronze medal for his native Croatia in the 2016 Summer Olympics, makes his appearance on the biggest stage thus far as he continues his climb to contender status as he takes on experienced journeyman 🇺🇸Eric Molina (27-5-0, 19KO👊). This will be the second 12 round Heavyweight bout for Hrgovic who is making the third defense of his WBC International title, the first being when he won the belt in a knockout of tough Heavyweight veteran Amir Mansour.
It’s the fifth fight for the Croatian slugger under the guidance of legendary Cuban trainer Pedro Diaz whose first fight handling Hrgovic was in the sharp dominating performance against Mansour. Hrgovic already establishes his dominance on opponents behind a disciplined jab that is accentuated by his 6’6″ frame and 78″ reach which sets the table for his strong right hand. He fights tall and controls distance well, but still comes off stiff in the ring, so maybe Diaz can get the big man moving a bit more fluid between the ropes.
So far in 2019 Hrgovic has clocked just 4 rounds in the ring, stopping Gregory Corbin in one round in May, then wearing down Mario Heredia in three rounds in August. Eric Molina, who isn’t new to the big stage, as the 37 year old from the small town of Raymondville, Texas, has stepped in with champions Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua, along with longtime contender Dominic Breazeale. Molina may, emphasis on may, give Hrgovic more rounds to work than his past couple of opponents but should work his way to a TKO at some point.
Filip Hrgovic vs Eric Molina is part of the main card which begins at 3pm ET on DAZN
