IBF Super-Flyweight Titlist 🇵🇭Jerwin “Pretty Boy” Ancajas (31-1-2, 21KO👊) was supposed to go about defending his World Title on November 2nd against 🇲🇽Jonathan Rodriguez, but days prior to the fight taking place, Rodriguez had some visa issues and couldn’t enter the United States, so Ancajas fight date was postponed, and he elected to take on another challenger. That challenger for this contest is Chilean IBF #14 ranked 🇨🇱Miguel “Aguja” Gonzalez (31-2-0, 8KO👊). Instead of Carson, California which was where Ancajas was originally scheduled to fight, he will head down to Mexico for this contest, to serve as the co-headliner to Navarrete/Horta at the 🏟️Auditorio GNP Seguros Arena in Puebla, Mexico.
Jerwin Ancajas is looking to secure a successful 8th defense of his World Title, and would like to get a showdown to follow with one of the other major fighters in his division, namely fighters with belts like the Super-Flyweight World Champion ♛🇲🇽Juan Francisco Estrada, WBO Titlist 🇯🇵Kazuto Ioka, or former Champion 🇵🇭Donnie Nietes for the biggest showdown in the history of Filipino boxing. Gonzalez earlier in 2019 lost to 🇦🇺Andrew Moloney, who is a quick rising contender at Super-Flyweight, however Gonzalez rebounded well to get a couple of wins on his ledger since. The only other fighter he has fought at Championship level was 🇬🇧Paul Butler back in 2013, losing a UD to Butler. Third times the charm? highly unlikely, but he has an opportunity to take on here as he fights his best opponent to date in Ancajas.
