John Riel Casimero Stuns Zolani Tete, Knocks him Out to Become New WBO Bantamweight Champion

By Tré Berry III🖊️

A stunning turn of events as 🇵🇭John Riel Casimero (29-4-0, 20KO👊) landed a rear right uppercut in the 3rd round as he charged in, a shot that 🇿🇦Zolani Tete (28-4-0, 21KO👊) ducked right down into, and collapsed down to the ring immediately. Tete although he beat the count, never fully recovered, and the aware Filipino fighter refused to let the opportunity slip, and continued to punish the South African fighter. Tete slumped back down to the canvas on his own accord, and was administered another 8-count. With a long look in by Referee 🗣️Steve Gray, he allowed Zolani to continue, but quickly stopped the fight after Casimero leaped in to land a couple bombs for an incredible victory by Casimero.

This was a great welcoming back to the limelight by John Riel Casimero, and with this victory, he now becomes a 3-division Champion to add to his 📖book of accomplishments. He won his first World Title back in August of 2012 at Light-Flyweight where he outpointed 🇲🇽Pedro Guevara by Split-Decision victory. His second World Title came at Flyweight in May of 2015 when he defeated great Thailand fighter 🇹🇭Amnat Ruenroeng in their re-match for revenge to lift the IBF Title from Ruenroeng’s grasp. Subsequently following, he scored the TKO win over young talent and future Flyweight World Champion 🇬🇧Charlie Edwards (who was in attendance ringside at the Casimero/Tete fight). With many quality victories under his belt, Casimero has declared his win over Zolani Tete the biggest achievement of his career. After the fight, he was very jubilant and joyous over the occasion, and he took his time to not only thank 🕴️🇵🇭Manny Pacquiao (who is his Promoter), but to also call out thee RING/WBA/IBF Bantamweight Champion of the World ♛🇯🇵Naoya Inoue (19-0-0, 16KO👊👊) for a power-punching showdown.

For Tete, this was a devastating blow toward his future plans, and he will ultimately have to erase what’s on the chalkboard and pick himself back up to get himself back in the big picture. Yes Tete has been an inactive fighter, last fighting 14 months ago, and coming off of a right shoulder injury, but none of that is to blame for what just took place, instead, all of it has to do with Casimero landing the big 🌩️thunder shot, and timing Tete perfectly to get the big punch in. A great moment for one of the Phillipines best fighters going today, and this accomplishment bust the door wide open for him more than any time of his accomplished career to date.
