IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Former Women’s Lightweight Champion 🇧🇪Delfine Persoon (44-2-0, 18KO👊) went down a division, winning the interim WBA Junior-Lightweight title over 🇳🇬Helen Joseph (17-4-2, 10KO👊) by 10 round unanimous decision (97-93, 97-93, 98-92) last Monday in Belgium.
It was Persoon’s first time back in the ring since losing the Lightweight title in a controversial points loss to Ireland’s undisputed star Katie Taylor back in June. Persoon works full time as a police officer in Belgium, and at 35 has made no qualms about wanting the rematch with Taylor as soon as possible.
CHECK THIS OUT: Saturday at York Hall, UK, there was an under the radar battle waged between Nicaragua’s Francisco Fonseca and Alex Dilmaghani of London with a vacant International belt on the line. The two refused to give any ground as they traded blows from rounds 1 through 7, eventually having to settle for a 12 round majority draw on the judges cards. This one is worth a watch if you get the chance to look it up this week.
MEANWHILE IN LIVERPOOL: Rocky Fielding (28-2-0, 16KO) got back in the win column in front of his hometown faithful Saturday, only needing two rounds to knock out Abdallah Paziwapazi (26-7-1, 23KO) of Tanzania.
Also on the card veteran fan favorite Martin Murray (39-5-1, 17KO) picked up a points victory in an 8 round bout against Bosnia’s Sladan Janjanin (27-5-0, 21KO), while former WBO Lightweight Champion Terry Flanagan (36-2-0, 14KO) swept all 8 rounds in his fight with Jayro Duran (14-7-0, 13KO) of Honduras.
