WBA Light-Heavyweight Champion 🇰🇬🇷🇺Dmitry Bivol (16-0-0, 11KO) is back in action on the Usyk undercard at Wintrust Arena in Chicago this Saturday. Bivol is squaring off with 31 year old 🇩🇴Lenin Castillo (20-2-1, 15KO) who hails from the Dominican Republic.
We haven’t seen Bivol since his 5th title defense and dominating performance against Joe Smith Jr. where he displayed his superior skills on the way to a unanimous decision against the power punching Long Islander.
As for Castillo, this will also be his second fight of the year as he last fought in March winning by technical decision in his hometown of Santo Domingo. In his 10 year pro career, his best opposition came in 2018 against top contender Marcus Browne who he put on the canvas but lost a 10 round decision to.
This doesn’t appear to be much more than a stay busy, stay sharp fight for the 28 year old Russian but top opponents have been hard to come by as top contenders like Marcus Browne have recently lost and his fellow light heavyweight champions are tied up with other fights (Gvozdyk (WBC) is taking on Beterbiev (IBF) Oct 18, and Kovalev (WBO) has Canelo Alvarez in November).
Dmitry Bivol vs Lenin Castillo will be on DAZN Saturday night at 7pm ET/4pm PT.
