🇬🇧Josh Warrington is getting ready make the third defense of his IBF Featherweight title and he gets to live up to his ring title of “The Leeds Warrior” once again. This will be his second fight in a row in front of his hometown of Leeds, at First Direct Arena as he takes on 🇫🇷Sofiane Takoucht of France Saturday, on a card that will be shown on the ESPN+ app at 3pm ET/12pm PT.
The last time we saw Warrington in action was in June where he made the second defense of his belt against rival Kid Galahad. He won a narrow split decision in what was a tough fight that could have gone either way.
Sofiane Takoucht (35-3-1, 13KO), ranked #4 by the IBF will be the opponent stepping into enemy territory Sunday. There’s very little out there on the 33 year old French southpaw, but it doesn’t appear that he will be able to provide much in the way of resistance against Warrington. The 13 year pro has won his last eight fights, the past two on points in eight rounders. He last fought a full 12 rounds in March of 2018.
Warrington has faced a solid trio of competition in his last three bouts in Lee Selby where he won the title, Carl Frampton in his first defense, and Galahad. Warrington has shown that he will fight the best of the best, but this fight appears to be the “soft touch” for him after knocking off those string of fighters.
Prediction: Warrington hits Takoucht with the heat early and often, smothering him with constant pressure and his high volume punching on his way to a 5th round stoppage.
