Just a month removed from his last fight, WBO Super-Bantamweight Champion 🇲🇽Emanuel Navarrete (28-1-0, 24KO) returns to the ring for the third defense of his title and third fight in four months.
Last month Navarrete made fairly quick work of Francisco De Vaca, stopping the previously undefeated Mexican in the third round while sustaining very little damage. After the bout, Top Rank CEO Bob Arum immediately announced that Navarrete would be getting right back to work as the co main to heavyweight Tyson Fury’s fight against Otto Wallin.
Stepping into the ring against him will be 32 year old Filipino fighter 🇵🇭Juan Miguel Elorde. Elorde (28-1-0, 15KO), ranked #2 by the WBO, last took the ring in March when he took on Japan’s Shohei Kawashima, winning by unanimous decision.
If that last name sounds familiar to you, it’s because Elorde is the grandson of legendary Filipino Hall of Famer ♛🇵🇭Gabriel “Flash” Elorde, the junior lightweight world champion of the 60’s. Elorde has only fought outside of the Philippines once, when he delivered a third round knockout over Ratchanon Sawangsoda on the Manny Pacquiao vs Lucas Matthysse card in Malaysia in 2018.
Navarrete vs Elorde will serve as the main undercard to Tyson Fury vs Otto Wallin Saturday at 11pm ET//8pm PT on ESPN+.
