Joshua Buatsi Happy to be Back in the Lions Den

Top Light-Heavyweight prospect 🥉🇬🇧Joshua Buatsi (11-0-0, 9KO) gets back in the ring Saturday in front of a hometown London crowd to face Canada’s 🇨🇦Ryan Ford (16-4-0, 11KO) on the undercard to Vasiliy Lomachenko and Luke Campbell.

This will be the third fight of the year for the fast rising Ghanaian born British boxer who knocked out tough vet Marco Antonio Periban in four rounds in June on the Anthony Joshua/Andy Ruiz card in New York City.

“Fighting in the U.S was a great experience but I’m happy to be back in England fighting at The O2, the lion’s den. I’m putting it all on the line again and I’m going to come out on the night and put on a great performance.” -Buatsi

Alberta, Canda native Ryan Ford is 1-1 so far in 2019. Ford comes from an MMA background but has stepped in the boxing ring with some tough opponents in his 20 fights including Avni Yildrim and Fedor Chudinov.

In February, Ford dropped a unanimous decision to Germany’s Nick Hannig, but most recently bounced back with a eighth round knockout over Russian Serge Michel. Ford has four losses on his record but to date has never been stopped, and Buatsi knows that stopping him will be icing on the cake in a strong performance.

“If I can get him out of there it will be a good statement. If I can be the first name on that list it’s a good sign. As always, first and foremost the most important thing is to win and getting the win is main focus. If the stoppage comes, beautiful.” -Buatsi

Joshua Buatsi vs Ryan Ford will be on the undercard to Vasiliy Lomachenko and Luke Campbell. The card stream begins at 1pm ET/10am PT on the ESPN+ app.Bua
