Bantamweight prospect and Commonwealth Champion Lee McGregor stopped his fellow countryman Scott Allan in eight rounds Saturday at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow in what was the first defense of the title.
As expected with the verbal jabs exchanged from both fighters leading up to the bout, they went at it from the sound of the opening bell.
The 22 year old McGregor (7-0, 6KO) who at 5’7.5″, carried a three inch height advantage in the bout, was met with plenty of resistance from Allan (9-4-1, 0KO) who worked his way inside landing short left uppercuts and overhand rights, but simply doesn’t carry the power for those shots to command any respect.
By the 4th round McGregor was finding his range, opening up and separating himself in the rounds, but Allan appeared to still have fight left in him before the bout was brought to a somewhat questionable halt.
If you want to catch the fight it’s available on ESPN+ or the IFLTV YouTube page.
