It may have not been what former WBC Champion 🇺🇸Jermell “Iron Man” Charlo (31-1-0, 15KO) wanted, as he had revenge on his mind, but things happened, and current WBC Titleholder 🇺🇸Tony “Super Bad” Harrison (who was scheduled for this rematch) suffered an injury and tore ligaments in his ankle, forcing him to drop this fight date. As for Charlo, the show must go on, and they secured a replacement opponent quickly, and that replacement is power-puncher 🇲🇽Jorge Cota (28-3-0, 25KO) from Mexico.
Many observers, including Charlo felt that he won his fight against the aforementioned Harrison, however late in the match, Harrison made a fight of it, and found some holes to get his offense off on the twin fighter from Houston, Texas, and those moments are instrumental in he and his Coach Derrick James breakdown of film in Training to sure up those skills to make for a more refined output in his next performance. For Cota, he has a lot of knockouts on his record, but he has lost in his couple fights where he stepped up to Championship level opposition in losing to both 🇺🇸Erickson Lubin and 🇲🇽Marco Antonio Rubio, so he is not what you would consider a top-level boxer, but he does pack a thud in his punches, enough to make this match-up semi interesting. This fight will be fought on Sunday, June 23rd at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, to be picked up by FOX-PBC.
