It is always a commendable virtue when an underdog who succeeds in his first encounter with his rival gives an immediate rematch to the man that he just took the Title from, and that’s exactly what we are getting here. Gutsy WBO “Regular” Super-Featherweight Titlist 🇺🇸Andrew “El Chango” Cancio (20-4-2, 15KO) will have his re-match with talented former possessor of that Title Belt 🇵🇷Alberto “El Explosivo” Machado (21-1-0, 17KO) on Friday, June 21st at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Palm Springs, California.
Cancio scored one of the hugest upsets earlier this year on February 9th by getting up off the deck in the first round to will himself back in the fight, and succeeded in breaking down the body of the taller Machado, knocking him down 3 times in the 4th round, and out as the Referee called a halt to the bout after the final knockdown, seeing no need for a count. This was the first loss in Machado’s professional career, and serves as an excellent gut-check of a test to see whether he can make the necessary adjustments, and whether he has the type of inner fortitude to turn the tables on Cancio to get his Title back. Cancio has been a workhorse in his career, and him lifting the belt up over his head the first time was one of the standout moments of the year. You know Cancio is going to do whatever is in his power to keep that belt, and to leave no questions answered as to who the superior fighter is, so it looks like we may be in for a firefight. This rematch will be featured as the main event of the DAZN card that is to once again take place on Friday, this is one we may get some real Combat in.
