The Beast Meets the Tartan Tornado

The Junior-Welterweight Tournament in the World Boxing Super Series (WBSS) has been heating up, and here we have the second of Semi-Final match-ups. Scotland’s young mega-talent & #2 Seed Josh ‘Tartan Tornado’ Taylor (14-0-0, 12KO) will finally get his first shot at a World Championship Title by facing #4 Seed/IBF Junior-Welterweight Champion Ivan ‘Beast’ Baranchyk (19-0-0, 12KO). Josh Taylor for this event is playing host to a Glasgow crowd at the SSE Hydro Arena.

Taylor in his young career has shown some technical brilliance, and already has top-flight performances under his belt in beating Viktor Postol, and in how he dominated Ryan Martin. It appears for Taylor that sky is the limit, though he has some real challenges ahead.

Baranchyk is one strong fighter, who knows how to throw his muscle down, outwork, and beat down his opponents. He won his World Title in the 1st round of this tournament by beating up Anthony Yigit, and turning his left eye into a grotesque mass that swelled up so bad, it started to resemble a ping pong ball. Despite being the Champion, Baranchyk knows that he is the underdog heading into this match, and he is using it as fuel, as he prepares for war, where he plans to take Taylor out before the final bell, but Taylor has his own plans to enact. Let the games begin, and may the best man win.

The winner of this fight will advance to the WBSS Finals to meet dangerous #1 Seed/WBA Junior-Welterweight World Champion Regis ‘Rougarou’ Prograis (24-0-0, 20KO) for the 🏆Muhammad Ali Trophy & the RING-MAGAZINE Junior-Welterweight World Title. Tune into 💻DAZN’s streaming app on Saturday to see who will advance on to meet Prograis in the Finals.
