Middleweight great Gennady ‘GGG’ Golovkin (38-1-1, 34KO) during a scheduled press conference today has indicated that his new Head-Trainer for the final phase of his career will be Johnathan Banks, who you may remember from training Heavyweight Champion Wladimir Klitschko for a period of time after the passing of Legendary Head Trainer Emmanuel Steward.

PERSPECTIVE:
Golovkin & former Head-Trainer Abel Sanchez were at odds with one another in a few different ways, and it was clear to see that they were no longer on the same page in terms of their overall objectives, and what it is they would like to implement in their game planning, so Gennady decided to make a calculated change that is within his best interest, to get a fresh perspective in his ear that is more intertwined with how he wants to approach his fights from this point on.
While Golovkin is thankful for Abel’s services, he is also aware of how important it is for everyone in his immediate boxing family to be of one mind for the last stretch of his career, and he believes the switch to Johnathan Banks taking over as his Trainer is the linchpin to get him going to that direction.
