Super Featherweight Joseph Diaz Jr. (28-1-0, 14KO) will face Nicaragua’s Freddy Fonseca (26-2-1, 17KO) in a 10 round match Saturday on the Canelo-Jacobs undercard at the T Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
This is the second fight for Diaz this year after beating Charles Huerta by 10 round unanimous decision in February. For Fonseca, this is his first fight of the year as he was last in against Moises Castro in a hometown bout he won by 8 round unanimous decision.
Fonseca should serve as little more than a tune up for Diaz as he has never faced top level opposition in his 29 fights and this is his first fight scheduled for over 8 rounds since 2015. The Nicaraguan lightweight is already off to a bad start as his attempt to get Diaz to flinch at Tuesdays face off failed.
Diaz showed zero emotion towards the attempted psyche out but made his goal for Saturday night clear, “Kept it classy, but come Saturday I’m f’ng him up for this.”
