Excellent IBF Super-Flyweight Champion Jerwin ‘Pretty Boy’ Ancajas (30-1-2, 20KO) of the Philippines has an interesting challenge in front of him in #1 IBF world contender Ryuichi Funai (31-7-0, 22KO) of Japan.
Ancajas is coming off a competitive fight that was improperly ruled a draw, that was clearly in Ancajas favor, though his opponent Alejandro Santiago Barrios made an interesting one of it. As for Ancajas, he is as good as anybody in the talent-laden Super-Flyweight division, and wants to put himself in position for a Title Unification fight before his inevitable move up to Bantamweight coming soon, and a quality performance in this upcoming fight against Funai could serve him well here.
.
Funai got off to a shaky start in his career, but he got it together by finding his niche, working his way up to contender status. He did drop a close majority decision to Sho Ishida back in 2016, but he continued his level of performance en route to wins getting him back to this title opportunity here. This bout will take place at the Stockton Arena in Stockton, California, and will be shown on regular ESPN.
