Highly-touted Welterweight Jessie Vargas (29-2-2, 11KO) fought well respected veteran Humberto Soto (69-10-2, 37KO) and met at a catchweight of 151 lbs., putting together a solid action fight. The veteran Soto showed that he was game as usual and took the fight to Vargas, landing some impressive shots in clips. Vargas had his left-hook going, landing it at will while countering over Soto’s right cross. A cut over Vargas left eye was opened early in the first round due to an accidental headbutt, with both fighters charging in with the same idea in mind. Vargas in the 6th round caught Soto with a great right cross and floored the 81 fight veteran. Soto got up, but was still feeling the effects of that shot, so Vargas jumped in and stepped up his attack for an impressive TKO finish. Vargas looked lean, and comfortable at Super-Welterweight, so that expands any options that he may want to take at both 147 and 154 lbs.
