“Rougarou” and “Mad Bee” Set for Semifinal Action in Louisiana

By Jon Uddin

This took long enough. We will finally get to see the WBA Super Lightweight title bout between New Orleans native and #1 seed Regis Prograis (23-0, 19KO) and #3 seed Kiryl Relikh (23-2, 19KO) of Belarus, who is the current belt holder. The fight will serve as the main event Saturday night in the World Boxing Super Series semifinal in Lafayette, Louisiana.

Relikh defeated Rances Berthelemy in their rematch to win the WBA title in March of 2018, and followed that up by beating Edward Troyavansky in the Super Series semifinals in October by unanimous decision, with all judges scoring it 115-113. That same day Prograis defeated Terry Flanagan by a decisive unanimous decision with scores of 117-109, 118-109, 119-108.

Prograis comes into this matchup the betting favorite (-1000, +600), and many have already written his name into the finals of the tournament. He owns the #1 seed of the Super Series, and a win sets up a potential finale that the fans are clamoring for with #2 seed Josh Taylor, should he win his semifinals bout with Ivan Baranchyk next month.

This fight is on DAZN 9pm ET
