Former IBF Lightweight Champion Robert Easter Jr (21-1, 14KO) returns Saturday in Las Vegas against another former IBF Champion in Rances Barthelemy (27-1, 14KO) of Cuba for the vacant World Boxing Association Title.
There will be no soft touch for Easter (#3 WBA) after nearly 8 months out of the ring, this being his first fight since losing a unanimous decision (118-109, 117-110, 116-111) to Mikey Garcia in July of 2018. He made it clear after that loss that he fully intended on jumping back into a big fight.
Barthelemy (#2 WBA) is also looking to return to the championship level in this one. In his only fight of 2017, Barthelemy defeated Kyril Relikh by a controversial unanimous decision. A rematch was held in March of 2018 and Barthelemy dropped a wide unanimous decision (118-109×2, 117-110). He would bounce back by stopping Robert Frankel in the third round at the end of the year.
This is another solid fight on a busy weekend in the ring. It will take place at The Chelsea in the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas and be shown on Showtime starting at 10pm ET.
