Andy ‘Destroyer’ Ruiz Jr. (32-1-0, 21KO) impressed a Carson, California crowd at Dignity Health Sports Park last night on the Granados/Garcia undercard by securing a 5th round stoppage victory over decent Heavyweight Alexander Dimitrenko (41-5-0, 26KO) after the German fighters corner stopped the fight due to an accumulation of punishment, resulting in a RTD stoppage win for Ruiz.
Ruiz is a very deceptive Heavyweight due to his fat stumpy physique, but his hands are MUCH faster than you would anticipated just on going off aesthetics alone, and he is very talented with those hands.
Many people feel that Ruiz is still an undefeated fighter who should’ve had the decision victory over Joseph Parker back in their encounter that took place in 2016, which was for the vacant WBO Heavyweight World Title. There are some very interesting match-ups out there that Ruiz can take, and especially with whom he called out post-fight in Polish Heavyweight Adam Kownacki. That would be a quality fight to look for if they both can get on the same page, for what would be ‘Battle of the Big Men’.
