This one is for the boxing purists. Two solid Middleweights clash for the main event of the FS1 fight card to be shown on Saturday, April 13th. Ukranian Sergiy Derevyanchenko (12-1-0, 10KO) has been impressing people for many years, dating back to his amateur days, and showing out in a small sample portion of fights as a professional.
He once again proved his medal in his last fight against Daniel Jacobs, albeit it in a loss, as he pushed the universally ranked top-Middleweight to the brink and made things interesting one they got to the scorecards of that fight. He will take on another quality Middleweight, and this is a match in which Sergiy may be favored in coming into the fight.
Ecuadorian-born German citizen Jack Culcay (25-3-0, 13KO) started out at Super-Welterweight, where he managed to nab an interim title. He did drop 2 fights in a row to high ranking fighters Demetrius Andrade and Maciej Sulecki (ironically now Culcay’s counterparts in the Middleweight division). Though he came up short, he showed that he wasn’t far apart from that caliber of fighter. He will have one more go-at-it against a high ranked fighter this weekend, third times the charm? we’ll see. The televised fight-card will start at 10 P.M. EST.
