Bryan De Gracia (24-2-1, 20KO) and Eduardo Ramirez (22-1-3, 9KO) shared the same ring, and entertained the Barclays crowd with a competitive back and forth bout to open the Showtime fight card.
De Gracia was the aggressor the entire night, and Ramirez fought off his back foot, looking for opportunities to counter. In the 9th round, Ramirez evaded a Del Greco right, and sidestepped to land one of the better uppercuts we’ve seen in a while, severely staggering the Panamanian fighter.
Ramirez jumped all over De Gracia, and with him staggering the ring for roughly 20 seconds, Referee Benji Esteves decided to call a halt to the bout, giving Ramirez the TKO victory. The stoppage felt a little premature, but Esteves probably didn’t like the look he seen in De Gracia’s eyes, and made the judgement call.
