Switch-hitting major talent Joseph ‘Jo Jo’ Diaz Jr. (28-1-0, 14KO) put on a show tonight, out-dueling his friend and fellow combatant Charles Huerta (20-6-0, 12KO) to a unanimous decision victory in his first fight at Super-Featherweight.
Starting off a little slow, Huerta hit Jo Jo with a couple solid crosses down the middle, but Diaz made the adjustments needed, and started to bombard Huerta with a slew of counterpunches, something that Diaz is among the elite at in all of boxing.
With a mix of left hooks, uppercuts, and crosses to the head and to the body in constant variation from the southpaw stance, Diaz started to break down the larger man in the ring, and commanded full control in the middle of their 10 round fight, en route to the victory.
Jo Jo prior to the fight had stated that he wanted to test the waters at 130 lbs. to see how well he can adapt to the extra weight, and going off his performance, he seems to fit the division. He also said if all went well tonight, that he would be open to all big fights at both Featherweight & Super-Featherweight.
