Weigh in for Saturday’s Keith Thurman vs Josesito Lopez undercard in Brooklyn, New York.
10 Round Heavyweight Bout
Adam “Babyface” Kownacki: 258.5 lbs
Gerald “El Gallo Negro” Washington: 243.25
It’s rarely pretty, but the rough, rumbling style of undefeated heavyweight Adam Kownacki has been hell to deal with so far for his 18 opponents, 14 of which he has stopped.
Two fighters that have suffered defeat to “Babyface” Kowncaki are former IBF Heavyweight Champion Charles Martin (10 round UD), and former world title challenger Artur Szpilka (TKO 4).
Saturday, on the undercard to Keith Thurman vs Josesito Lopez, Kownacki faces another former world title challenger in Gerald Washington (19-2-1, 12KO) who holds a 3 inch advantage in height (6’6 to 6’3) and 6 inches in reach (82″ to 76″).
Kownacki (#8 WBC, #5 IBF) is out to continue his climb up the heavyweight rankings with his ultimate goal being to “become Polish American Heavyweight champion of the world”.
Washington, who took a loss by 4th round KO to Deontay Wilder in 2017, needs this win to stay afloat in the current heavyweight division. Kownacki’s willingness to come forward, takings shots to land his own big punches, could turn this into an entertaining one as we will see if Washington can use his advantages in length to slow down Kownacki’s relentless pressure style.
Odds: Kownacki (-750) Washington (+475)
