Browne from the jump was very confident in his abilities, finding his comfortable range and out-maneuvering, out landing against the wily veteran. Badou got off to his normal lethargic start, however it was noticeable early that Badou’s hand-speed appeared slow, either indicating that age is finally starting to creep in for the 35 year old, or that he was having a slightly off night, nonetheless, Browne was on top of his game, and made his presence felt throughout the entire fight.
The 7th round, Browne had a point deducted from his for excessive holding, and within the round, a gash was opened up on Badou’s forehead due to an accidental headbutt that had the blood pouring for the duration of the fight. Browne continued to tack on the points, skillfully outdoing Jack and beating him at his own game.
In the 11th round, another accidental headbutt ensued, which completely blew up the existing cut. Badou’s entire face crimson red with blood, a gruesome sight to see, as the gash was about 4 inches long, one of the worst gashes seen in memory. In an odd scene, the lights went completely out for a few seconds in the 12th, but they flickered back on with little delay, and the fight finished up, with it going the distance.
With credible scorecards, Browne was awarded the victory, and is now the new WBA Interim titlist, which now puts him in position to get a shot against elite LINEAL/WBC world Light-Heavyweight Champion Oleksandr ‘The Nail’ Gvozdyk (16-0-0, 13KO).
Badou in the 12th round was met with a round of applause due to his courage and wanting to continue with the match after his cut went haywire, spewing blood, with the Doctor looking closely at his cut, and deciding to let him continue.
