Takuma Inoue beats Petch Freshmart for WBC Interim Bantamweight Title

Takuma Inoue (13-0, 3KO), the younger brother of WBA Bantamweight champion Naoya, rode his right hand to a unanimous victory, 117-111 on all 3 cards, in claiming the WBC Interim Bantamweight title Sunday against Petch CP Freshmart (48-1, 33KO) at the Ota City General Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan.

Inoue was effective with his left hook as always, but landed the right hand clean over and over again against a game Freshmart, who was fighting outside of his native Thailand for the first time in his career. Petch Freshmart continuously brought pressure throughout the fight, but was outmaneuvered and outlanded by Inoue over the majority of the bout.

Inoue now earns a shot at the winner of Nordine Oubaali and Rau’shee Warren, who will fight to claim the vacant title stripped from Luis Nery.
