Masayuki Ito (25-1-1, 13KO) successfully defended his WBO Super Featherweight title Sunday at the Ota City General Gymansium in Tokyo, Japan, after the corner of Evgeny Chuprakov (20-1, 10KO) stops the fight in the 7th round.
Ito used his height and reach advantage to keep Chuprakov at bay and land hard right hands to the Russians head and solid left hooks to the body.
Chuprakov and his corner had no answer as he continued to recklessly flail with an ineffective overhand right or simply grapple with Ito and land shots with his head that led to cuts over both fighters eyes.
In the 7th round, Ito maximized the advantage he held in size and reach, and began picking Chuprakov off repeatedly with clean combination punching leading to Chuprakov losing his mouthpiece and his corner mercifully calling an end to the one sided affair.
