Brezeale Gets Knockout In FOX PBC’s Inaugural Fight

By Tre Berry

WBC #4 ranked world heavyweight contender Dominic Breazeale (20 – 1 – 0, 18KO) was successful in defeating Luis Negron (20 – 2 -1, 16KO) by way of a signature 9th round knockout in FOX PBC’s opening bout of their new franchise.

Breazeale while looking sluggish, figured out his opponents timing midway through the fight, and established control of the range center-ring.

In the 9th round, Breazeale had Negron stuck in a corner, as he unloaded an overhand right that clipped Negron on the neck, putting Negron down to the canvas, to where Referee Artur Mercante Jr. called a halt to the bout.

Breazeale, while celebrating his victory quickly located reigning WBC Champion Deontay Wilder in the crowd, as the two shared a few words, followed by a lengthy stare-down. Breazeale has been Wilder’s mandatory for a while, but because Wilder and the other elite fighters in the Heavyweight division appear to be on a collision course with each other, Breazeale may have to wait on his shot at a world title.
