Talented, fiery, hungry & explosive…the Houston-bred Charlo twins finally get the opportunity to headline their own event, and they will do so as the opening show to PBC’s brand new venture with FOX.
Former IBF Super-Welterweight Champion & elite Middleweight contender Jermall Charlo (27 – 0 – 0, 20KO) fights against Matt Korobov (28 – 1 – 0, 14KO) as the headliner. Willie Monroe Jr. was originally slated to take on this assignment against Charlo, however after a positive drug test came up with what they are calling ‘adverse findings’, Monroe was shelved in place of Korobov who will take this fight on very short notice.
Korobov campaigns at Super-Middleweight, and has the task of cutting a good amount of weight before Friday to get down to 160 lbs. for the bout. He has a win over elite Super-Middleweight Jose Uzcategui a few years back, and another quality opportunity just fell in his lap, one that was too good to pass up. As for Jermall, he has been actively looking for a shot at one of the elites in the Middleweight division, but everyone has been looking elsewhere, making him increasingly impatient by the day, so this is a good fight to take while he tries to expand his prospects.
WBC Super-Middleweight Champion Jermell ‘Iron Man’ Charlo (31 – 0 – 0, 15KO) will face off against #4 ranked WBC challenger Tony Harrison (27 – 2 – 0, 21KO) for what would be an attempt at Jermell’s 4th successful title defense.
Jermell has been dead-set on trying to prove & stake his dominance in the Super-Welterweight division, and it’s no secret that he wants the Lineal showdown next year against WBA/IBF Champion Jarrett ‘Swift’ Hurd. While that fight takes time to materialize, he has to take care of business here this Saturday on the 22nd.
Speaking of Hurd, Harrison faced Hurd in 2017 & lost via TKO in the 9th round, so Jermell has a benchmark to go after in keeping him motivated.
This is an event that takes place at the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn NY, and will be broadcasted on the FOX channel.
