The fights we have our eye on for the week of December 23, 2018.
Whyte vs Chisora 2
On Saturday December 22nd at the O2 Arena in Manchester, England, heavyweights Dillian “The Body Snatcher” Whyte (24-1, 17KO) and Dereck “Del Boy” Chisora (29-8, 21KO) will square off again in part two of their bitter rivalry.
In the first fight two years ago, Whyte got the nod in a close split decision in what was one of the best fights of the year. Hopefully we are treated to the same this weekend as all eyes in the heavyweight division will be locked in, including the current lottery ticket, unified champion Anthony Joshua, who the winner could potentially get a crack at in Joshua’s next fight in April of 2019.
We will be keeping an eye on undefeated light heavyweight prospect Joshua Buatsi on the undercard. Buatsi (8-0, 6KO) is managed by Anthony Joshua, and will be defending his WBA International Light Heavtweight title against Renold Quinlan (12-3, 8KO).
The Whyte vs Chisora 2 card can be seen on DAZN.
Josh Warrington vs Carl Frampton
IBF World Featherweight Title (Warrington Defending)
On Saturday at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England, IBF Featherweight Champion Josh Warrington (27-0, 6KO) will be making the first defense of the title belt he removed from Lee Selby in May of this year. Warrington will be up against former world featherweight and super bantamweight champ Carl Frampton, who is a fan favorite after his battles with Leo Santa Cruz, Nonito Donaire, and Scott Quigg.
Also on the card will be Irish featherweight prospect Michael Conlan (9-0, 6KO) and former WBO Middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders (26-0, 12KO).
The fight will be shown on ESPN+
Jermall Charlo vs Matt Korobov
Interim WBC World Middleweight Title (Charlo Defending)
Saturday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, Jermall Charlo (27-0, 21KO) of Houston, will defend his Interim WBC World Middleweight Title against late fill in Matt Korobov of Russia. Korobov (28-1, 14KO) has taken the spot of Willie Monroe Jr. who was pulled from the bout after there was an “adverse finding” in his VADA test.
In the co main event will be Jermell Charlo (31-0, 15KO) twin brother to Jermall, as he defends his WBC Super Welterweight title against Tony Harrison (27-2, 21KO) of Detroit, Michigan.
The fight will be shown on FOX at 8pm EST.
