Redhead On A Rocky Road: Alvarez vs Fielding

Here we have the return of LINEAL/WBA/WBC Middleweight Champion Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez (50 – 1 – 2, 34KO) making his anticipated debut on his brand-new platform DAZN, in which he has signed to the largest contract in boxing history, one that covers a double-digit amount of fights to come.

With many fans pondering who would be his 1st defense after his epic war with Gennady ‘GGG’ Golovkin in their re-match, Canelo decided to venture up north briefly for what would be his second stint at Super-Middleweight to fight Rocky Fielding (27 – 1 – 0, 15KO), a very curious decision upon receiving the news, but it works out for the time being considering that Rocky Fielding happens to be one of Eddie Hearn’s fighters.

Rocky Fielding’s lone loss came at the hands of reigning RING-MAGAZINE/WBA Super-Middleweight Champion Callum Smith via 1st round KO, but he has established good momentum going since then, and in his last outing, stopped German fighter Tyron Zeuge via TKO.

Rocky completely dwarfs Canelo in stature, thus making this a true skill vs. size match-up, with Canelo having all the advantages on the technical side, and Rocky being a gutsy warrior, having a smaller man in front of him. The anticipation is that win or lose, after this fight Canelo will come back down to Middleweight to start his reign and fight in a unification match with one of the other Champions, but one can never be certain.

For now, we have this fight in front of us, taking place Saturday, December 15th on the new app. Tune in to see a P4P familiar face in a different place, returning to action.
